The title comes from the latin name for parakeets. In Brussels live more than 10 000 parakeets in urban areas. One of the characteristics of this bird is its need for companionship. Solitude will lead these birds to a selfharming behaviour, to depression and sometimes to death. For me, this fact makes the parakeet to a perfect symbol for our need for social life, love and friendship, which have become difficult to find in times of the ongoing pandemic.
